Liverpool Big Band and Jazz Camp for Girls
Wednesday, 14 June 2023 Time: 7pmLiverpool Hope Big Band is made up of Hope students and graduates along with visiting musicians from the local community, directed by Lecturer in Music Performance, Dr Tom Sykes. The band recently performed at the Eurovision Village Stage at the Pier Head and welcomes the opportunity to engage with culture and education around Liverpool city region. Female musicians are under-represented in jazz education and as professional jazz performers, and access to opportunities is limited in some parts of the city region. This concert is the culmination of a collaboration between Liverpool Hope University, Jazz North and ParrJazz, with the workshops funded by Hope’s Routes to Impact initiative. Hope Big Band will perform, joined by Geni, Ni and Sarah as guest soloists, and then the Jazz Camp for Girls students will take to the stage to perform some joint items. Admission is free and booking is not required.
